Varanasi, February 26: Swami Avimukteshwaranand stated in an interview with a news agency on Thursday, “We are not applying for anticipatory bail. We are not alone.”
He clarified that his statement is not just about himself. “When someone assumes the position of Shankaracharya, they become a monastery in themselves. Currently, we are a monastery, and we sit on this sacred seat. The seat we occupy is a dynamic, moving monastery. Our Jyotirmath is located in Uttarakhand, but we represent it wherever we go.”
He further explained, “Wherever we go, Jyotirmath accompanies us. The Shankaracharyas of those places are with us, making us an organization. To protect our organization, we have a protective class that works to safeguard our institution.”
He added, “If everything is according to the law, what problem could there be? If they take us away in arrest, what is the obstacle?”
Continuing, he expressed, “We face no obstacles, and we see that you face none either. But what if they take you to jail and inject you with poison? Many stories have emerged about such incidents occurring in jail.”
He recalled the 1966 movement for cow protection, where the central government fired upon cows, and religious leaders, including Dharm Samrat Swami Ji Maharaj and previous acharyas of our seat, were imprisoned. “They were beaten in jail, causing severe injuries to Dharm Samrat’s abdomen,” he recounted.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand concluded, “For all these reasons, we wish to protect ourselves, and they must grant us permission. We face no danger. You can kill us now; what threat do we face? We have already performed our shraddha, tarpan, and pinddaan. But what about the sentiments of our followers connected to our seat, who are adherents of Sanatan Dharma? We must also protect them.”
