Ranchi, August 13: The student protest against alleged irregularities in competitive examinations in Jharkhand has entered its 20th day. Demonstrators are demanding a CBI investigation into the exam discrepancies, reforms, and accountability from the government.
Students assert that their demands must be heard, emphasizing that the government needs to be sensitive to their issues. They have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met.
One student, Vikas, spoke to a news agency, stating, “The government should take students’ problems seriously and address them appropriately. Governments come and go, but accountability must be established.”
He further urged the government to sincerely resolve the issues currently being raised. The primary demand from students is the cancellation of the CGL examination, necessary reforms, and accountability to prevent students from being misled in the future. They believe that the door to justice should always remain open for them.
Another student expressed, “Our protest will continue until the government genuinely acknowledges our demands.” He also accused the administration of attempting to incite unrest, stating that they want to create divisions, but the students remain united in their justified demands.
Karan Kumar, another protester, remarked, “Today marks the 20th day. Many are on hunger strikes, and some have had to be hospitalized. Despite this, the government has yet to meet our demands. We will remain here until all our requests are fulfilled.”
He added that currently, 5-6 students are hospitalized, including Devendra Nath Mahato and others who are on hunger strike. Some students also sustained injuries during the assembly encirclement.
