New Delhi, February 14: The impact of strong winds over the past few days is now evident in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Air Quality Index (AQI) has shown improvement, with many areas falling into the yellow (moderate) and orange (poor) zones. This decline in pollution levels has provided significant relief to residents.
Recent data indicates that in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, the AQI was recorded at 253, while in Loni it reached 267. Sanjay Nagar reported an AQI of 192, and Vasundhara recorded 250. In Noida, Sector 125 had an AQI of 222, Sector 62 recorded 177, Sector 1 was at 192, and Sector 116 reached 206.
Several areas in Delhi also reported AQI levels in the orange zone. Alipur recorded an AQI of 235, Anand Vihar 265, Ashok Vihar 240, Bawana 244, Burari Crossing 205, Chandni Chowk 225, CRRI Mathura Road 203, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range 209, and DTU at 207. However, Aaya Nagar had a more favorable AQI of 153, placing it in the yellow zone (moderate category).
Experts attribute the improvement in AQI to the strong winds, which prevent pollutant particles from lingering in the atmosphere. Nevertheless, many areas still have AQI levels around 200, which is not considered completely safe for health.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has noted a consistent rise in maximum temperatures. On February 14, the maximum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 11 degrees. For February 15, a maximum of 27 and a minimum of 13 degrees are expected. February 16 is projected to see a maximum of 28 degrees and a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius.
Currently, light fog is present in the mornings, with humidity levels ranging between 90 and 40 percent. No weather-related warnings have been issued. The strong sunlight during the day is making residents feel a slight warmth, and the increase in afternoon temperatures is diminishing the chill. Meteorologists suggest that temperatures may rise further in the coming days, intensifying the daytime heat.
