Strong Support for Womens Reservation Bill from Shiv Sena and BJP Leaders

Mumbai, April 5: Political activities surrounding the Women’s Reservation Bill, known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, have intensified. Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC emphasized the urgent need for this legislation, noting that currently, only 74 women MPs occupy the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, which is merely 13 percent.

Speaking to reporters, Shaina NC stated, “In the 2024 Lok Sabha, women’s representation stands at just 13 percent. Even in the 17th Lok Sabha, there were only 78 women MPs, roughly 14 percent. Very few women MPs consistently raise issues related to women, whether it’s violence against women, workplace conditions, nutrition, or gender ratio. All these areas require serious attention.”

She underscored the need for democratic fairness, pointing out that women’s representation in Parliament is around 15 percent, which is significantly low. Regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, Shaina NC mentioned, “The number of seats will increase in both southern and northern regions. It will also include ratios based on the census. The Election Commission will review the census and general consensus. Once the Nari Shakti Vandan Act is implemented, one-third of the seats will be reserved for women. So, who could possibly have an issue with that?”

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Sneha Dubey Pandit from Vasai-Virar also expressed strong support for the Women’s Reservation Bill. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act in 2023. Sneha Dubey Pandit remarked, “This bill has been passed by Parliament. Now, the government has proposed three additional days on the 16th, 17th, and 18th of this month to discuss the bill and complete further proceedings.”

She also commented on the situation in West Bengal, stating that Prime Minister Modi’s recent remarks about infiltrators during a rally were truly shocking. She alleged that the unchecked presence of infiltrators in a state like Bengal is a primary cause of the current chaos and poor conditions there.

Both leaders emphasized that the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill would not only enhance women’s political participation but also facilitate more serious discussions and solutions regarding women-related issues in Parliament and state assemblies.
