Mumbai, April 26: The film and television industry has witnessed a significant transformation in the portrayal of female characters over time. Previously, women were often relegated to supporting roles, but now they are depicted as strong and independent figures.
Today, actresses are choosing roles that highlight women’s strength in society. In this context, Marathi actress Varsha Usgaonkar openly discussed her career and future plans. She shared her aspirations for the types of characters she wishes to portray in the coming years.
During the trailer launch event for her upcoming historical drama film “Kaun Sahi,” Varsha Usgaonkar spoke candidly. When asked about the roles she hopes to play in the future, she expressed her long-standing desire to portray a self-reliant woman on screen.
“I want to play roles such as a doctor, lawyer, or businesswoman that showcase a woman’s confidence and strength. I love characters that depict women not just as emotional beings but as strong decision-makers. Today, audiences also prefer such stories. If I get a good role like that, I would definitely want to take it on,” she stated.
Varsha was also questioned about the rise of OTT platforms. She responded, “Nowadays, there is a different kind of work happening on OTT. Web series and digital content have opened new opportunities for artists. I find many projects on OTT appealing and I want to work in this space as well.”
She added, “So far, I haven’t received a powerful role on OTT that I could immediately accept. There have been some offers, but I was busy with other commitments at the time, which is why I couldn’t be part of those projects. I hope to have the opportunity to play strong characters on OTT in the future.”
