New Delhi, May 17: In an effort to promote fitness awareness across the nation, the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event is held every Sunday under the Fit India Movement. This initiative aims to engage various segments of society in fitness activities. The 74th edition of ‘Sunday on Cycle’ saw participation from officials of the GST and Customs Department.
The event’s goal is to spread the message of fitness to all societal groups. Narendra Kumar Yadav, Additional Director of GST and Brand Ambassador for Fit India, spoke with reporters, stating, “This Sunday cycling event is part of our regular initiative. As urged by PM Modi, cycling is essential not only for our health and the environment but also for our economy, as it helps save fuel.”
He encouraged everyone to cycle whenever possible. Yadav emphasized that a strong citizenry leads to a stronger nation. Meanwhile, Ashwin Singh, founder and head coach of Fit India, highlighted the numerous benefits of cycling. He noted that cycling can help reduce obesity, increase height, and combat pollution. “Everyone should cycle, whether at home, in the gym, or by participating in events like ‘Sunday on Cycle’ that we organize every week. A nationwide campaign is underway for this,” he added.
According to Ashwin, the mission of Fit India is to ensure that everyone remains fit, healthy, and strong. He remarked, “Staying fit is crucial. Everyone can win medals, but being fit is essential to achieve that. Stay fit, stay active, and contribute to India’s progress.”
