Chennai, Apr 18 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today justified his government’s decision to skip Governor R N Ravi’s ‘At Home Reception, on Tamil New Year Day opposing the delay in forwarding the NEET Bill to the President as it would amount to insulting the sentiments of the people of the State and destroying the Assembly tradition. Making a Statement Under Rule 110 in the State Assembly, he said the NEET Bill was pending in Raj Bhavan for the last 210 days. The second resolution unanimously adopted in the Assembly on February 8 has been pending with the Governor for the last 70 days. “The Governor ought to have forwarded it to the President for his assent”, he said, adding, since he has the responsibility to protect the traditions of the 100-year-old Assembly, the government was forced to take such a decision. He also said he had personally written a letter to the Governor in this regard. “We will continue to raise the sentiments of the people of the State in all forums and protect their rights”, he added. Stating that he had no personal enmity with the Governor, Stalin said personally he was having a cordial relations with him. During personal meetings, the Governor has praised the functioning of the DMK government. “We have been enjoying a cordial and productive relationship. The State Government is pleased to follow all due protocols; extending the official courtesies and observing all norms and conventions with reference to the esteemed office of the Governor and will continue to extend the same…It is beyond political barriers and all of us should protect this tradition “. Citing media reports that the Governor has decided to forward the anti-NEET Bill to the President, the Chief Minister said after seeing the developments, if necessary, a meeting of leaders of all legislature parties will be convened to decide on the next course of action.
