SRH opt to field as Holder makes debut for LSG

Mumbai, April 4 : While Jason Holder made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field in the 12th match of Indian Premier League at DY Patil Stadium here on Monday. Ahead of the match, Lucknow head coach Andy Flower handed the team’s cap to Holder, who is coming in place of Dushmantha Chameera, while Hyderabad has not made any changes in the match. Speaking after the toss, Hyderabad skipper Kane Wlliamson said they have decided to bowl first, after taking into account the dew factor in the second innings. “We are going to have a bowl. We did take the conditions into account, we have seen similarities in the number of early matches and trying to get something from the surface first up and maybe some dew later on,” he said. Talking about his elbow injury, Williamson said, “It is good and nice to be out here playing, looking forward to the game today.” Lucknow captain KL Rahul said the team wanted to bowl first as well because that has been the trend here. “With the new ball you always try to hit that good area to really assess what the pace is on that particular wicket and we obviously do a bit of homework before the game and it all comes down to the execution,” he said. On picking Holder, Rahul said the team bought the West Indian all-rounder in the auction because he is a top all-rounder going around in the world. “He can swing the new ball and do some damage at the back end as well,” he added. On Ayush Badoni, the Indian opener hoped that the youngster would continue with the same form and keep doing the damage at the backend of the innings. “For a youngster to be out there and get the job done for the team, to really stay calm and back his game is really good to see,” he said.
