Prayagraj, September 3: Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated every year on the eighth day of the waning phase of the month of Bhadrapada, with deep faith and joy. This day is not just a festival but a grand celebration of love, trust, and devotion. According to religious beliefs, it was on this sacred date during the Dwapara Yuga that Lord Krishna was born at midnight in a prison in Mathura, from the womb of Devaki. Each year, there are differing opinions among householders and Vaishnav sects regarding the date of Janmashtami, but this year, a special alignment is occurring.
Pandit Shipra Sachdev shared insights, stating, “This year, both householders and saints will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on the same day, September 4.”
He explained, “The eighth day will commence at 2:30 AM on September 4 and will last until 12:30 AM on September 5. Therefore, Janmashtami will be observed on September 4. The auspicious time for worship begins at 11:05 AM and continues until 12:35 PM. Devotees can perform the rituals for Lord Krishna during this period.”
Pandit Shipra also suggested special remedies for fulfilling wishes. He advised, “If you have any desires or wish to please Lord Krishna, be sure to offer him a silver flute. If you have a child Krishna idol at home, present the silver flute to him. Alternatively, if you prefer to donate at a temple but do not want to offer a silver flute, you can buy a regular flute, infuse it with your wishes, and present it at the feet of Lord Krishna.”
It is believed that offering a flute to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami fulfills all wishes. The midnight celebration of the birth of child Krishna includes rocking him in a cradle and offering him butter and sugar as prasad.
