Lucknow, March 20 : The Samajwadi Party on Sunday announced candidates for biennial election to 35 seats of Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad, to be elected by the representatives of local bodies. The party has left two seats – Bulandshahr and Meerut-Ghaziabad for its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). Besides, SP has given ticket to Ajay Pratap Singh alias Ajay Mallik on Moradabad-Bijnor seat, Mashkoor Ahmad has been nominated from Rampur-Bareilly seat, Sinoj Kumar Shakya from Badaun seat, Amit Kumar from Pilibhit-Shahjahanpur seat, Dilip Singh alias Kallu from Kanpur-Fatehpur seat and Shyam Sunder Singh from Jhansi-Jalaun-Lalitpur seat. On Etawah-Farrukhabad seat, SP has fielded Harish Kumar, Anurag Verma on Khiri seat, S l Kumar Singh on Lucknow-Unnao, Virendra Shankar Singh on Rae Bareli and Arunesh Kumar on Sitapur seat. Similarly the party has given tickets to Amar on Bahraich seat and Mohammad Arif on Saharanpur seat. For two candidates to be elected from Mathura-Etah-Mainpuri seat Udaiveer Singh and Rakesh have been named as the party candidates. Udaiveer is a sitting MLC and is considered close to SP president Akhilesh Yadav. SP has named Jaswant Singh as its candidate on Aligarh seat, Dilip Singh from Agra-Firozabad, Anand Kumar Tripathi from Banda-Hamirpur, Vasudev from Allahabad, Bholanath Shukla from Ghazipur, Manoj Kumar from Jaunpur, Umesh from Varanasi seat, Shilpa Prajapati from Sultanpur and Vijay Bahadur on Pratapgarh seat. On seats to be covered in the second phase, the party has fielded Rajneesh from Gorakhpur-Maharajganj, Kafeel Khan from Deoria, Heeralal from Faizabad, Bhanu Kumar Tripathi from Gonda, Arvind Giri from Ballia and Santosh Sunny from Basti-Siddharth Nagar seat.
