Lucknow, March 20 : Team of ‘The Kashmir Files’, which narrated the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and the pain during that time, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Sunday. Director of the movie Vivek Agnihotri, actors Pallavi Joshi and Anupam Kher, Producer Abhishek Agarwal, along with other team members, were present during the meeting. They expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for making the flick tax-free in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the team met state Governor Anandiben Patel. After the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the movie boldly reveals the inhuman horror of religious bigotry and terrorism. “Undoubtedly, this film will work to make the society and the country aware. Congratulations to the entire team for producing such a thought-provoking film,” Adityanath said. Besides Uttar Pradesh, the flick has been declared tax-free in many states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Haryana, Tripura and Uttarakhand. The flick is creating history at the box office, collecting Rs 100 crore in just one week. Vivek said the movie depicts the exodus of minority Hindu Pandits from Kashmir in independent India three decades ago and the truth of their plight. “The film wakes you up emotionally. It depicts the Kashmir Valley of the 90s and shows the atrocities committed by terrorists on Kashmiri Pandits. It tells the story of Pandits being forced to flee their homes by Islamic terrorists. “The film narrates how Hindu Pandits were driven out of Kashmir in the 1990s as well as tortured. Their women were victimised. This complete story is shown in this movie which is based on true events,” he added. MB RJ
