New Delhi, April 17: South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is set to embark on a three-day visit to India. His official trip, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hee-kyung, is scheduled from April 19 to April 21.
The primary goal of this visit is to deepen the special strategic partnership between India and South Korea and to enhance trade and investment. Key discussions will focus on advanced technologies, shipbuilding, and defense collaboration.
According to the itinerary, President Lee will arrive at Palam Air Force Station at 4:35 PM on April 19. Later that evening, at 6:50 PM, he will meet with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at the Oberoi Hotel for a courtesy visit.
On April 20, the schedule begins with a formal welcome ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 9:00 AM. Following this, President Lee will participate in a floral tribute at Raj Ghat at 9:40 AM.
At 11:30 AM, he will arrive at Hyderabad House for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be followed by the exchange of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and a joint press statement at 1:05 PM.
A business forum will take place at India Mandapam at 4:15 PM, organized with the embassy’s facilitation. Later that evening, at 7:00 PM, President Lee will meet with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
On April 21, President Lee and First Lady Kim Hee-kyung are scheduled to depart at 12:30 PM, concluding their state visit.
In light of Lee’s visit, both nations are expected to initiate a new chapter of economic cooperation in strategic sectors such as shipbuilding, maritime industries, finance, artificial intelligence (AI), and defense. Amid the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, both countries are keen to collaborate on energy supply chains.
This will mark the third face-to-face meeting between Lee and Modi, who previously met at the G7 and G20 summits last year. After his visit to India, Lee will travel to Vietnam on Tuesday, where he will engage in talks with Vietnamese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party, To Lam, on Wednesday.
