
Sopore, April 25: In a significant operation under the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign’, Sopore police have arrested two drug traffickers from different locations. The suspects were found in possession of illegal and controlled substances.
In the first incident, a suspicious individual was stopped during patrol near the public park in Chinkipora, Sopore. Upon searching him, police seized a narcotic substance (Spasmoproxyvon capsules), which was confiscated following proper procedures. The suspect was later arrested.
The arrested individual has been identified as Jubair Ahmed Malla. The Bomai police have registered a case against him under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
In another incident, during a naka checking at Shiva Crossing, a team from Bomai police station apprehended a man identified as Shaukat Ahmed Shah. A search revealed that he was in possession of a banned substance resembling charas.
Subsequently, an FIR was filed at Sopore police station under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act.
Currently, investigations are ongoing to trace the sources of the narcotics and uncover the broader network involved. Sopore police reiterated their ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drug trafficking, emphasizing that strict actions and targeted investigations will continue under the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign’ to dismantle drug networks and safeguard society from this menace.
