New Delhi, July 21: Sonia Gandhi, a senior leader of the Congress party, arrived at the Temple Marg police station late Tuesday night to meet her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. This visit comes after Delhi police detained several Congress leaders protesting outside the Prime Minister’s residence.
On Tuesday, police removed opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, from the protest site. They have since been held at various locations. Reports indicate that Priyanka is at Temple Marg, while Rahul has been taken to Chhatrasal Stadium, along with other MPs who were moved to the Kingsway Camp area.
Sonia was accompanied by a significant number of Congress leaders and supporters during her visit. She managed to meet Priyanka at the police station.
The police action occurred as opposition leaders marched towards Lok Kalyan Marg in response to a police crackdown during the CJP’s “March to Parliament.” Rahul Gandhi remained on the road for an extended period, refusing to leave until he and other leaders were escorted away by police.
Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul, and Priyanka led party workers to the Prime Minister’s residence, intensifying the opposition’s campaign on education-related issues. Rahul urged the public to join the protest, stating that an attack on students is an attack on every Indian family, criticizing the government for neglecting students’ concerns.
Prior to this, Union Minister Jitendra Singh met with Rahul Gandhi, but discussions reportedly ended without resolution. The Congress party continues to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a parliamentary discussion on the exam paper leak issue.
