Mumbai, August 4: In recent years, students in India have taken to the streets to expose corruption in government exams across various states. The wave of student protests that began in Delhi has now reached Jharkhand, prompting actress Sonakshi Sinha to respond.
The actress shared a video on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a heartfelt note. Through this post, she raised her voice against the injustices faced by students.
“It is very sad to see our country’s students going through such situations. When will this all stop???” she wrote.
In Jharkhand, students are staging an indefinite sit-in at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, protesting against alleged irregularities and paper leaks in competitive exams. They are primarily demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary exam and a thorough investigation by the CBI and ED into the matter.
Initially, protests were held in various districts of the state. However, on July 29, the movement escalated into a larger protest when organizers called for a ‘Maha Andolan’ and urged candidates from every district to gather in the state capital, Ranchi. This call was met with a significant response, as nearly 5,000 students arrived in Ranchi to participate in a peaceful march. Nonetheless, reports of exam irregularities continue to emerge one after another.
As for Sonakshi Sinha, she was recently seen in the film “System,” a courtroom drama where she plays the role of Neha Rajvansh, an ambitious government lawyer. The film also features Jyotika and Ashutosh Gowariker in key roles, along with Preeti Agarwal, Adinath Kothare, Ashriya Mishra, Gaurav Pandey, and Sayandeep Gupta. It has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video since May 22.
