
Raipur, May 19: A tragic and shocking incident occurred in the village of Risekela, located in the Sarayapali police jurisdiction of Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh. In a domestic dispute, a son killed his father by striking him with a brick.
The police acted swiftly, arresting the accused son just hours after the incident.
According to police reports, on the night of May 17, a heated argument erupted between 48-year-old Jaylal Sagar, also known as Jaylal Chauhan, and his son, Ajay Sagar, also known as Ajay Chauhan. The dispute escalated to the point where Ajay, in a fit of rage, repeatedly struck his father’s head with a brick found in their home. The assault left Jaylal severely injured, causing him to lose consciousness at the scene.
Family members rushed him to a government hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
On May 18, Jaylal’s brother, Harjeet Chauhan, reported the incident to the Sarayapali police. Officers arrived at the scene and inspected the body. Noticing deep wounds on the head, they deemed the case suspicious and initiated a thorough investigation.
During questioning, it became clear that Ajay was responsible for his father’s death. Consequently, the police registered a case against Ajay Chauhan under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code and began searching for him.
The police team worked diligently to locate the accused. That same evening, around 8 PM, they received a tip-off indicating that Ajay was hiding in the Bodapali area. The police quickly surrounded the area and apprehended Ajay Chauhan.
The arrested Ajay Chauhan has been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
The police’s prompt action has been widely praised in the community. Local residents commended the police for resolving the case in such a short time.
