Small Amarnath Yatra Begins in Bandipora with Enhanced Security Measures

Bandipora, August 28: The Small Amarnath Yatra commenced on Friday morning from the Sharda Mata Temple in Kalusa, Bandipora, under strict security arrangements. The event was flagged off in the presence of Bandipora’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Zafar Hussain and the Senior Superintendent of Police.

According to official reports, this year’s yatra includes a total of 108 pilgrims, comprising youth, women, and elderly participants. The journey began with prayers at the Sharda Mata Temple, after which the devotees were transported by buses to Arin Dardpora. From there, they will embark on a challenging 7.5-kilometer trek to visit the sacred cave.

One participant shared, “Our group includes about 25 women, while the rest are around 98-100 men. We are heading to worship at the temple of Lord Shiva. As for the arrangements, we have received excellent support from every department.”

Another pilgrim from Gurugram, Haryana, recounted his experience, stating, “I came from Gurugram. When I was younger, I used to participate in this yatra. Although it was paused for some time, since its resumption, the administration, CRPF, and army have organized it very well over the past two to three years.”

Zafar Hussain, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora, commented on the arrangements for the yatra, saying, “Just like every year, the yatra is being organized today. We have made similar arrangements as last year, including preparing the trekking route, ensuring adequate water supply, and providing medical facilities.”

The administration has implemented robust security measures along the pilgrimage route. CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police personnel are stationed at various points. Additionally, medical teams, water supplies, and food arrangements have been made to ensure that the pilgrims face no difficulties during their journey.
