The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Yuvraj Mehta in Noida is intensifying its inquiry. In a span of nine hours, the SIT recorded statements from over 100 individuals and expressed dissatisfaction with the responses provided by the Noida Authority.
Consequently, the SIT has asked the authority to furnish clear answers on five additional points by Tuesday. Following this, the SIT team is expected to revisit the Noida Authority for further discussions. The investigation team has taken a stringent approach, not only questioning the Noida Authority but also raising tough questions for the police and district administration.
All three departments have been instructed to submit detailed information by afternoon regarding the situation at the time of the incident, response times, decision-making processes, and actions taken on-site. The SIT aims to identify the level of negligence and understand why the situation escalated.
Currently, extensive reports exceeding 500 pages are being compiled collectively by the Noida Authority, district administration (disaster management), and police departments. The Noida Authority has already submitted a 60-page report, which is expected to expand to around 100 pages after including the additional responses. The district administration and police are preparing separate reports ranging between 200 to 300 pages each.
These responses will be consolidated into a joint report for the SIT’s comprehensive analysis. The SIT will then forward its final report to the state government, with the Chief Minister receiving the document directly. Based on this report, conclusive decisions and actions will be taken.
Sources indicate that the SIT report will highlight the roles of officials, delays in decision-making, negligence, and systemic failures. The focus will be on pinpointing accountability and understanding which decisions or lapses led to the uncontrollable situation. The additional questions asked by the SIT and the direction of the probe suggest possible action against all involved departments.
It is expected that the report will recommend suspensions, departmental actions, and strict disciplinary measures. Following the publication of the report, significant administrative action is likely, keeping this case in the spotlight in the coming days.
