Ahmedabad, March 16: Shubman Gill has officially joined the Gujarat Titans for IPL 2026. The team is gearing up for the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a pre-season camp at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara.
Gujarat will kick off its campaign on March 31 against the Punjab Kings in Mohali. Their first home match will be on April 4 against the Rajasthan Royals. According to the schedule for the first phase of the season, Gujarat will play two matches at home and two away.
The Gujarat Titans have consistently performed well in the IPL, having reached the playoffs in three out of four seasons. Notably, they were crowned champions in 2022. For the upcoming season, the franchise has announced the appointment of former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden as their batting coach, with former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Vijay Dahiya taking on the role of assistant coach. This move strengthens the coaching setup of the franchise.
A World Cup winner and one of the most formidable openers of his era, Hayden brings a wealth of international experience and expertise in modern T20 batting to the Titans. He will significantly bolster the support staff as the team prepares with renewed enthusiasm for the 2026 season.
Under Gill’s captaincy in IPL 2025, the Gujarat Titans reached the Eliminator but faced defeat against the Mumbai Indians. Both Gill and Sai Sudharsan showcased impressive performances with the bat. Sudharsan was the highest run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 759 runs at a strike rate of 156 over 15 matches, while Gill scored 650 runs at a strike rate of 155 in the same number of games.
