Shocking Tragedy in Telangana: Mother Takes Life After Drowning Daughters

Hyderabad, March 12: A shocking incident has emerged from Telangana. A woman reportedly drowned her two minor daughters in a well and subsequently took her own life by jumping into the same well. Police disclosed this information on Thursday.

The tragedy occurred in the village of Yelkicharla, located in the Mahbubnagar district.

According to police, 42-year-old Jungamma arrived at a well near an agricultural field with her two daughters and son. There, she pushed 15-year-old Jyoti and 13-year-old Sailaja into the well before jumping in herself.

During this harrowing event, her son managed to escape and informed the villagers about the incident.

Authorities have retrieved the bodies of all three from the well and sent them for post-mortem examinations.

Police indicated that the woman took this drastic step due to family disputes. An officer stated that a case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.

This marks the third such incident in the state this month. On March 2, in the Bibinagar mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, a woman committed suicide after allegedly killing her two children—a two-year-old daughter and a ten-month-old son—following a dispute with her husband.

Additionally, on March 6, in Kamareddy district, an auto-rickshaw driver drowned his three minor daughters in a lake. The accused, Ismail, was arrested and reportedly committed the crime due to financial difficulties. The bodies of his daughters, Shifat (8), Ayat (7), and Mariam (5), were recovered from the lake.

After throwing his daughters into the lake, Ismail went to the police to report them missing. Authorities formed five teams to search for the missing children and shared their pictures on social media. Upon suspicion, police interrogated Ismail, during which he confessed to the crime.
