Shocking Suicide of Karnataka Official One Week Before Retirement Raises Concerns

Bengaluru, March 21: A shocking incident has emerged from Karnataka, where a government official took his own life in his office just one week before retirement. This tragic event has sent ripples through the administrative sector.

The deceased has been identified as Mallikarjun, who served as an Assistant Director in the Social Welfare Department. He was a resident of Gundarlahalli village, near the town of Pavagada, and had been working in this department for the past three years. Reports indicate that he had only a week left until his retirement.

According to police, Mallikarjun recorded a video before his suicide, in which he made serious allegations of harassment against his senior officer. It is reported that he sent this video to his colleagues before taking this drastic step at his office in Pavagada on Wednesday.

In the video, Mallikarjun accused Joint Director Krishnappa of mental torture. He stated, “My mother, wife, and children have always supported me and made me proud. I had much to do for them, but I am unable to. I wanted to do more for them, but now it is not possible. This is all due to the harassment from Joint Director Krishnappa.”

He further added, “Both God and the law will punish Krishnappa. My family does not need to take any revenge.”

Upon receiving news of the incident, Pavagada police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Preliminary inquiries revealed a shocking detail: Mallikarjun’s father also worked in the same department and passed away just months before his retirement. After his father’s death, Mallikarjun was given a job on compassionate grounds, and now he too has died just before retirement.

The police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case. It is worth noting that on May 26, 2024, in Shivamogga, Karnataka, 48-year-old Accounts Superintendent Chandrasekharan P. also committed suicide. A six-page suicide note found with him accused colleagues of pressuring him to transfer money into illegal accounts.
