
Lucknow, May 1: A startling incident unfolded at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, when security personnel discovered an illegal firearm in a passenger’s bag during a routine check. The passenger was attempting to smuggle the weapon to Dubai.
The situation escalated when a young man was preparing to board Air India Express flight IX-193 to Dubai. During a Level-4 security screening, personnel from the Metal Security Force (MSF) noticed a suspicious object in his bag. Upon further inspection, they found a 12-bore illegal firearm concealed inside.
Security officials promptly detained the passenger, identified as Mahesh Kumar Chauhan from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, and initiated further action. Local police were alerted without delay, and he was handed over to the Sarojini Nagar police for interrogation.
Initial inquiries aim to uncover the source of the illegal weapon and the passenger’s intentions for carrying it to Dubai. Authorities are also investigating whether any accomplices or criminal groups are involved in this case.
Airport administration has assured that security measures are fully operational. Officials emphasized that all passengers undergo multiple levels of screening to prevent any illegal or dangerous items from reaching aircraft. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
