Shah Rukh Ali Shines with 11 Goals as Uttar Pradesh Hockey Dominates Manipur 17-1 in Sub Junior Mens National Championship

Rajgir, April 5: The 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Men’s National Championship 2026 kicked off with impressive performances in Division A. Teams from Hockey Punjab, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, and Hockey Jharkhand secured victories on the first day. In Division B, Hockey Bengal and Hockey Arunachal also claimed wins at the Rajgir Sports Complex on Sunday.

In Pool A of Division A, Hockey Punjab triumphed over Hockey Maharashtra with a score of 2-0. Sanganth Singh (10’) and Akash Deep (53’) each scored a goal for Punjab.

In Pool C, Uttar Pradesh Hockey overwhelmed Manipur Hockey with a staggering 17-1 victory. Shah Rukh Ali was the standout player, netting 11 goals (5’, 22’, 23’, 24’, 29’, 33’, 35’, 36’, 49’, 49’, 59’). Nitish Yadav contributed two goals (3’, 18’), while captain Kushwaha Ketan (6’) and Karan Dhank (17’) added one goal each. For Manipur, Maibam Manimatum scored the lone goal (14’).

In Pool D, Hockey Madhya Pradesh secured a decisive 10-1 win against Kerala Hockey. Ryan Ul Haq completed a hat-trick (5’, 34’, 36’), and Ghazi Khan scored twice (49’, 55’). Additionally, captain Ansh Bahutara (15’), Ayush Singh Lodhi (25’), Karan Gautam (37’), Deepak Singh (45’), and Devaraj Prajapat (52’) each contributed a goal.

In Pool B, Hockey Jharkhand edged out Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from Ashish Tani Purti (22’).

In Division B, Pool A saw Hockey Bengal dominate Hockey Gujarat with an astounding 18-0 scoreline. Munna Kumar Singh was a key player, scoring six goals (5’, 27’, 37’, 49’, 50’, 55’). Sujal Turi (28’, 32’, 42’) and Sujal Balmiki (57’, 59’, 60’) each completed hat-tricks. Risav Ray (17’, 24’) and Ratan Bind (24’, 29’) added two goals each, while captain Riju Bar (28’) and Abhishek Thakur (47’) also scored.

In Pool B of the same division, Hockey Arunachal triumphed over Chhattisgarh Hockey with a score of 5-3. Rajbhar Shubham (25’, 33’, 38’), Ashwini Patel (15’), and Mohit Yadav (49’) scored for Arunachal, while Om Kumar Yadav (27’, 40’) and Gopal Paikra (55’) found the net for Chhattisgarh.
