Patna, April 5: BJP national spokesperson Syed Shah Nawaz Hussain stated on Sunday that the upcoming elections in West Bengal’s two phases will not suffer from EVM issues; instead, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) will face disappointing results.
While speaking to reporters, Hussain accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of desperation, claiming she knows she is likely to lose the elections.
He also referenced the alleged attack on judicial officials in Malda, West Bengal, and the controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in the state.
Hussain remarked that Banerjee has nothing to showcase regarding her achievements and only engages in rhetoric to counter the BJP.
Additionally, he praised the BJP-led central government’s proposal for 33% reservation for women leaders in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated during an election rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.
Modi stated that efforts are being made to ensure women benefit from this reservation in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Hussain urged everyone to support this initiative, while accusing Congress of obstructing progress.
He criticized Rahul Gandhi and Congress for their habit of hindering good work.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi expressed shock over a recent incident in Kaliaganj, Malda district, where seven judicial officials were taken hostage by miscreants.
During his address in Cooch Behar, Modi remarked that the entire nation was stunned by the hostage situation involving judges. He highlighted that even judges are not safe under the TMC government in West Bengal, calling the Kaliaganj incident a testament to the government’s brutality. He questioned the safety of ordinary citizens if the government cannot protect its judges.
