Severe Storm and Rain Disrupt Life in Patna

Patna, May 9: Authorities reported that a severe storm accompanied by heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Patna on Friday, causing widespread disruption across the city.

Strong winds uprooted trees in several areas, damaging vehicles and disrupting traffic. Power supply was also affected in multiple locations. The storm had a significant impact near the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, where a large tree fell right outside the premises.

Nearby, at the residence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, several other trees also collapsed, damaging parked vehicles. Security personnel stationed nearby narrowly escaped injury, although reports indicate that some individuals sustained injuries.

Inside the RJD office complex, a large tree fell as well. At the time of the incident, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav was present in his office. Hearing the loud crash, he quickly rushed to the meeting room with his daughter and narrowly avoided harm.

Traffic in many parts of Patna was severely affected due to fallen trees and broken branches blocking the roads. Areas around the RJD office and Bailey Road experienced significant congestion, leaving passengers heading to the railway station and surrounding areas stuck in heavy traffic.

As trees and branches fell onto the roads during the sudden storm, several vehicles were damaged. Municipal and disaster relief teams promptly arrived at the affected locations to initiate rescue operations.

Police and security personnel were also seen assisting residents and guiding them to safety. Authorities reported that restoration efforts are underway to clear fallen trees from the roads, normalize traffic, repair disrupted power supply, and assess the damage caused by the storm.

The sudden heavy rain and strong winds caused panic among residents, as trees fell almost simultaneously in various areas. Officials continue to monitor the situation in the storm-affected parts of the city while working to restore normalcy.
