Severe Heatwave in North India; IMD Issues Alert, Relief Expected from Night of June 13

New Delhi: North India, including Delhi-NCR and adjoining northwestern regions, is currently experiencing intense heatwave conditions. According to the latest forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), severe heat accompanied by dust storms and rainfall is expected on June 12 and 13. The IMD has issued special alerts for these two days.

The weather department predicts a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius on June 12. Humidity levels will remain around 25 percent. Thunderstorms with rain and dust storms along with heatwave conditions are anticipated. A red alert has been declared to advise the public to stay cautious.

On June 13, the temperature is expected to remain around 44 degrees Celsius. However, the possibility of thunderstorms with strong winds reaching 40 to 50 km/h and rainfall may cause a slight drop in temperature. An orange alert has been issued for this day, urging people to take necessary precautions.

From June 14 onwards, temperatures are likely to decrease gradually, with a maximum of 41 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. Although there is a chance of rainfall on this day, no warnings have been issued. Between June 15 and 18, the weather is expected to be stable with partly cloudy skies and light rainfall activities. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

The IMD advises citizens to avoid going outdoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and take essential precautions to protect themselves from the heatwave. Special attention is needed for the elderly, children, and individuals with health issues. While North India faces severe heat currently, signs of weather change are expected from the night of June 13, bringing relief from the scorching heat. Meanwhile, the public is urged to remain vigilant over the next two days.
