Seven Arrested in Maharashtra PSC Paper Leak Case Sent to Judicial Custody

Seven accused in the Maharashtra PSC paper leak case have been sent to judicial custody until September 21, following their police custody.

Pune, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Seven individuals arrested in connection with the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) drug inspector paper leak case had their police custody concluded on Monday. They were subsequently presented in session court, where the judge ordered their transfer to judicial custody until September 21.

The police did not request further custody from the court after a 12-day period of police detention. The Mumbai Crime Branch had initially arrested three MPSC officials on August 26, including Praveen Patil, Amrit Patil (father of accused Ritaja Patil), and Lokesh, also known as Gaurav Patil. Ritaja Patil was arrested later on September 2.

In light of the paper leak incident, the Maharashtra government has taken significant steps regarding recruitment examinations. A high-level committee has been established to review the entire process, from the examination papers to the results, aiming to prevent any future irregularities.

The committee’s objective is to enhance the transparency, security, reliability, and candidate-centric nature of the recruitment examination system. Its scope will extend beyond just the examination papers to include a comprehensive review of the entire examination process.

Key areas of focus will include the preparation of question papers, maintaining confidentiality, ensuring security at examination centers, increasing the use of technology, and effectively curbing cheating and malpractice.

Moreover, the committee will also address candidates’ grievances and evaluate their overall experience during the examination process. The government’s clear aim in forming this committee is to establish a trustworthy and transparent examination system, thereby reducing irregularities and unfair practices in recruitment exams.
