Scotland Announces Coaching Staff for T20 World Cup

New Delhi, February 3: The head coach of the Scotland men’s cricket team, Owen Dawkins, has confirmed the coaching team and support staff for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Dawkins and assistant coach Gordon Drummond will be joined by Monib Iqbal, Paul Tweddle, and Jack Bess for this tournament. The team also includes Raj Macrae-Routre (doctor), Gary Metcalf (physio), and Fiona Rae (team manager).

Scotland received an invitation to participate in the tournament just ten days ago, following Bangladesh’s withdrawal. This limited timeframe has necessitated a swift assembly of the team.

Former international player Monib Iqbal will serve as the spin coach for the second consecutive men’s T20 World Cup, having previously been part of the coaching team in the 2024 tournament.

Paul Tweddle, the fielding and assistant coach from Somerset, was part of the coaching team that led the county to success in the T20 Blast in 2023 and 2025. He has also served as the interim head coach in Taunton and has international experience with England Lions.

Jack Bess will take on the role of strength and conditioning coach for this World Cup. He currently holds a similar position with Nottinghamshire and has previously worked with Worcestershire. Bess also has experience in franchise cricket with the Trent Rockets in ‘The Hundred’.

Owen Dawkins expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am pleased to confirm Scotland’s coaching team for the upcoming T20 World Cup campaign. With very little time to assemble the staff before the tournament, it was crucial for us to prepare a team with diverse experiences to work alongside Gordon and me. It’s great to see that we have formed a high-quality group.”

Scotland, placed in Group C, will kick off their campaign against the West Indies on February 7. They will face Italy on February 9, England on February 14, and Nepal on February 17.
