Sanjay Raut Critiques GDP Figures, Urges PM Modi to Change Advisors

Mumbai, September 3: Concerns have been raised regarding the government’s GDP figures. Former Finance Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg stated that the GDP growth rate is only 2.6%. In response, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut expressed skepticism.

He questioned, “If the GDP figure has increased so much, where are the jobs? Where is the investment? Poverty and inflation are evident, and these are not signs of a strong GDP.” Raut further suggested that PM Modi should consider changing his advisors, as misleading information is being presented to the public.

Earlier, in response to opposition allegations regarding GDP data, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal defended the data collection process, stating it has been in place for years and does not involve political figures. He emphasized that manipulating data does not conceal the truth.

While speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) event, Goyal remarked that harboring negative views about data is self-defeating and undermines public morale. He asserted that the data reflects the hard work and capabilities of the nation’s 1.4 billion people, not just the government’s performance.

Additionally, Raut raised questions about the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as CEO of the Ram Temple Trust. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, he stated, “Questions will continue to arise. For the first time, a CEO has been appointed to the Ram Temple Trust, indicating its corporatization. It has become a business, hasn’t it? When business is involved, a CEO, managing director, and directors come into play. So, is this a good thing?”

It is noteworthy that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed a CEO for the first time, assigning this responsibility to retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra. Following this appointment, the opposition has consistently targeted the government and the trust, viewing it as a move towards corporatization of the temple.
