
New Delhi, March 27: Former Union Minister and BJP leader Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has officially taken over as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) since March 18. Kiran Umesh Mahale has assumed the role of a member starting March 20. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Friday.
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, a former Member of Parliament, has held several significant public positions, including Minister of State for Rural Development and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. She has been actively involved in social and community development initiatives, particularly aimed at uplifting marginalized and disadvantaged groups. Her extensive experience in public life and governance is expected to greatly benefit the commission’s responsibilities.
Kiran Umesh Mahale, an experienced public representative, brings a wealth of knowledge in social and organizational work. She has previously served as the Mayor of Amravati Municipal Corporation and has held various important positions in public life. Mahale has been actively engaged in initiatives related to women’s empowerment, social welfare, and grassroots governance.
