S. Jaishankar Visits Exhibition Showcasing India-France Cultural Ties in Paris

Paris: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is currently on a foreign visit to France and Luxembourg from January 4 to 9. During the first phase of his trip in Paris, he visited the exhibition titled ‘Ce Qui Se Tisse’ which highlights India’s rich textile heritage and exquisite craftsmanship, reflecting the deep and strong cultural connections between the two nations.

Sharing his experience on the social media platform X, Jaishankar wrote, “This evening in Paris, I visited the ‘Ce Qui Se Tisse’ exhibition. It showcases India’s textile heritage, savoir-faire, and creativity. It also reminds us of the strong cultural linkages between India and France.”

During his official visit to France, Jaishankar is scheduled to meet President Emmanuel Macron and hold discussions with Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the talks will focus on progress under the India-France strategic partnership and matters of global significance. Jaishankar will also address the 31st edition of the French Ambassador Conference as the guest of honour.

Following France, Jaishankar will visit Luxembourg where he will engage with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel along with other senior officials. He will also meet members of the Indian community residing there.

Last November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Emmanuel Macron at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. After the meeting, PM Modi posted on X, “It was a pleasure to meet President Macron during the Johannesburg G20 Summit. We had good discussions on various issues. The India-France relationship remains a force for global good.”

In recent months, both leaders have held several telephone conversations discussing efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine and reaffirming India’s continuous support for a peaceful resolution and stability in the region. They have also reviewed bilateral cooperation across sectors such as economy, defence, science, technology, and space. The commitment to strengthen the India-France strategic partnership continues with focus on the Horizon 2047 roadmap, Indo-Pacific roadmap, and Defence Industrial roadmap.
