‘Russia plans terrorist attack at Chernobyl nuke plant’

Kyiv, March 11 : Ukrainian defence ministry on Friday alleged that Russia was planning to carry out some sort of terrorist attacks at the Chernobyl nuclear plant, which is currently under the control of Russian forces. According to the ministry, Russian President Vladimir Putin has given an order to prepare a disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant but hold Ukraine is responsible for it. Russians are blocking Ukraine from the Chornobyl plant, which is currently cut from power and disconnected from the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) monitoring systems, The Kyiv Independent reported. Last week, the IAEA had had said it was not able to re-establish comm cations with the systems installed to monitor nuclear material and activities at either the Chernobyl or Zaporizhzhia plants following the loss of remote data transmissions from those systems. On Friday, Ukraine’s nuclear power regulator said that the electricity supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power station had not been restored despite the claims by Russia and Belarus. According to CNN, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence also alleged that Russian forces had denied a Ukrainian repair team access to Chernobyl. RNJ
