Ruckus in Jharkhand Assembly Over JPSC-JSSC Recruitment Irregularities

Ranchi, August 11: The fourth day of the monsoon session in the Jharkhand Assembly was marked by chaos surrounding the alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. Opposition NDA legislators vocally demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged malpractices, even storming the well of the house.

As the proceedings commenced at 11:07 AM, BJP leader Babulal Marandi led his party members in raising slogans from their seats, demanding accountability from the government regarding the JPSC-JSSC issue. In no time, several opposition members reached the well of the house.

Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto urged the opposition members to return to their seats and allow question hour to proceed. He emphasized that all members were discussing the interests of students and that the assembly’s proceedings should continue smoothly. Despite repeated appeals from the Speaker, the uproar persisted, prompting him to adjourn the session until noon.

During this time, sharp exchanges occurred between the ruling party and the opposition. Congress legislative party leader Pradeep Yadav accused the opposition of wasting assembly time and attempting to create chaos in the state. He asserted that the government is serious about the future of students, noting that the state’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) is already investigating matters related to JPSC and JSSC.

Yadav mentioned that students had staged a peaceful protest outside the assembly on Monday, and the government would present the entire sequence of events before the house. He claimed that while the students’ demonstration was calm, some individuals sent by the BJP attempted to disrupt the atmosphere. The administration had even arranged vehicles to help students return home after the protest concluded.

Opposition members insisted that a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations should be entrusted to the CBI. They also raised concerns about the police’s use of force against students during the assembly siege on Monday.
