New Delhi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Abu Dhabi T10 League is set to kick off on November 7, and the Royal Desert Champions are gearing up to create a legacy that will endure. Team director Robin Singh, a former Indian cricketer, emphasized the importance of establishing a strong core team before entering the draft, which can often be unpredictable.
Singh remarked, “The most crucial aspect is to build a robust core team, as the draft can be uncertain. Selecting a new team is challenging and the process evolves rapidly. Our strategy for the auction was solid. It’s well-known that tournaments are often won by bowlers. Without a strong bowling unit, conditions can deteriorate quickly.”
Excited about the tournament, the Royal Desert Champions are committed to starting a legacy that will last in the Abu Dhabi T10. After signing players like Nicholas Pooran, Phil Salt, and Sherfane Rutherford, Singh noted their intention to recruit one of the world’s best bowlers. “We were fortunate to secure three of the finest bowlers in the shorter format, all with impressive records that are undeniable and will play a key role in our campaign,” he added.
The team has included bowlers such as Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, and Maheesh Theekshana to ensure a strong performance in the upcoming season. Additionally, Dushmantha Chameera, Chris Jordan, and Luke Wood will bolster the bowling lineup. Nicholas Pooran will lead the team as captain.
Amit Narang, the owner of the Royal Desert Champions, stated, “The Royal Desert Champions are built on the belief that champions emerge when conditions are toughest. The desert symbolizes the traits we want to see in this team—strength, courage, adaptability, and ambition. The team we have assembled is proof of what it means to play for the Royal Desert Champions—a team that the Emirates can be proud of, a brand that connects with fans locally and globally, and a franchise aiming to create a lasting legacy.”
