New Delhi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Bollywood legend Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75. He suffered a severe cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. Medical personnel arrived promptly, but he was found unconscious. He was subsequently transported to Manipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:20 AM.
Patekar made a significant impact on Indian cinema, enriching Hindi films with his versatile and powerful performances. While he was beloved by both fans and critics, Patekar’s first love was not cinema but cricket. He had shared this sentiment in an interview nearly eleven years ago.
In that interview, Patekar revealed that he was a talented cricketer in his youth, specializing in off-spin bowling. He practiced with batsmen at Shivaji Park but was unable to pursue cricket further due to financial constraints.
He expressed his passion for the sport, stating that he never missed a India-Pakistan match on television. Even today, he claimed that after just ten days of practice, he could still bowl well.
Patekar’s admiration for cricket extended to his favorite player, Virat Kohli. He candidly mentioned that if Kohli got out early, he lost his appetite for food.
His reflections highlight that his passing leaves a void not only in Bollywood but also in the cricketing community, as he was an enthusiastic fan of the sport.
Born on January 1, 1951, in Murud, Raigad district of Maharashtra, Patekar was originally named Vishwanath Patekar.
