The Ministry of AYUSH in India has raised awareness about the warning signals the body gives before succumbing to heat stress.

When paying attention to these vital signs, the body may exhibit several symptoms as the heat intensifies. These include excessive sweating, feelings of nausea or vomiting, muscle cramps or pain, cold and clammy skin, dizziness, severe headaches, and intense thirst.

Health experts emphasize that these signs should not be ignored. Overlooking them could lead to serious conditions such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Prompt recognition and action can help avert significant health crises.

To manage heat-related issues effectively, experts recommend several simple strategies. Avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day, typically from noon to 4 PM. Wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothing that can absorb sweat. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, lemonade, buttermilk, lassi, or coconut water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

To replenish lost salts and minerals, consume nutritious homemade meals. Rest in cool, shaded areas and avoid heavy exercise. If you experience any of the aforementioned symptoms, seek a cool place, rest, and consult a doctor if necessary.
