
Bengaluru, April 25: In a thrilling encounter during IPL 2026, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased their prowess by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets. The match took place at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, where RCB successfully chased down a target of 206 runs in just 18.5 overs, marking their fifth victory of the season.
RCB’s innings started on a shaky note as Jacob Bethel fell to Mohammad Siraj after scoring 14 runs off 10 balls. However, the duo of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the ship, forming a remarkable partnership of 115 runs for the second wicket off 59 balls. Padikkal delivered an impressive performance, scoring 55 runs in just 27 balls, including 2 fours and 6 sixes.
Kohli, on the other hand, faced 44 balls and hit 8 fours and 4 sixes to score 81 runs. Captain Rajat Patidar struggled with the bat, contributing only 8 runs before being dismissed by Manav Suthar. Jitesh Sharma added 10 runs off 6 balls before falling to Rashid Khan’s delivery, caught by Manav. Nevertheless, Tim David and Krunal Pandya ensured no further setbacks for RCB. David remained unbeaten on 10 runs, while Krunal scored 23 runs off 12 balls, including 3 fours and a six.
On the bowling front, GT’s Rashid Khan took the most wickets, claiming 2, while Jason Holder and Manav Suthar each took 1 wicket.
Earlier, Gujarat Titans batted first, scoring 205 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan set the tone with a solid opening partnership, adding 128 runs in 12.5 overs. Gill scored 32 runs off 24 balls, while Jos Buttler contributed 25 runs off 16 balls.
Sudharsan anchored the innings with a brilliant century, scoring 100 runs off 58 balls, featuring 11 fours and 5 sixes. Washington Sundar remained not out at 19 runs off 12 balls, and Jason Holder added a quick 23 runs off just 10 balls.
For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyaash Sharma, and Hazlewood each took 1 wicket. This defeat marked the fourth loss for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026.
