Lucknow, May 7: In the 50th match of IPL 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) today. At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first.
RCB has made no changes to their playing eleven for this match. After winning the toss, captain Rajat stated, “We will bowl first. This pitch isn’t as fast as Chinnaswamy, but it is still quick. The surface looks good, and we aim to restrict them to a low score. The break was beneficial; everyone is performing well, and we have had some rigorous practice. We are playing with the same team.”
On the other hand, LSG has made three changes to their playing eleven. Mohsin Khan, Josh Inglis, and Avesh Khan are out due to injuries. After losing the toss, captain Pant said, “We have made some changes to our team. Inglis, Avesh, and Mohsin Khan are unavailable due to injuries. We know we are a top team, but clarity is crucial. We have adjusted our batting order. A stable environment is necessary, but sometimes changes are needed. This pitch looks like it could yield 180-190 runs, better than most other matches.”
So far this season, RCB has played nine matches, winning six and losing three. In their last match, RCB faced defeat against the Gujarat Titans. Virat Kohli has been in excellent form this season, while Devdutt Padikkal has consistently contributed with the bat. The bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood has troubled batsmen significantly. In the spin department, Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma have also proven effective.
Conversely, LSG finds itself at the bottom of the points table, having secured only two wins out of nine matches in IPL 2026. They must win this match to stay in contention for the playoffs. The bowlers failed to defend a target of 229 runs against the Mumbai Indians. Mohammad Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan were particularly expensive. However, Nicholas Pooran showed promise this season, scoring a powerful 63 runs off 21 balls against the Mumbai Indians. Mitchell Marsh also contributed with 44 runs off 25 balls.
RCB’s playing eleven includes: Jacob Bethel, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (Captain), Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Rasikh Salam Dar, and Josh Hazlewood.
LSG’s playing eleven features: Mitchell Marsh, Arshin Kulkarni, Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper/Captain), Akshat Raghuvanshi, Himmat Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Digvijay Singh Rathi, Mohammad Shami, and Prince Yadav.
