Ravichandran Ashwin Urges Patience for Rising Star Vaibhav SuryaVanshi

New Delhi, March 31: Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav SuryaVanshi. Vaibhav scored a remarkable half-century in just 15 balls during the third match of IPL 2026 against Chennai Super Kings. Ashwin emphasized that too much pressure should not be placed on Vaibhav, suggesting he will play for India when the time is right.

Vaibhav showcased his talent at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, scoring an impressive 52 runs off just 17 balls. His innings included 4 fours and 5 sixes. Partnering with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he contributed to a 75-run partnership in just 6.2 overs, leading Rajasthan to a comfortable victory by chasing down Chennai’s target of 128 runs in only 12.1 overs.

Ashwin advised patience in managing this promising young player, warning against rushing his development. On his YouTube channel ‘Ash’s Talk’, he stated, “Don’t set such targets for him. He is just a kid. If MS Dhoni can play until 45, and SuryaVanshi plays until 40, he has two and a half decades left in cricket. He needs space; when the right time comes, he will step up. He is too good not to play for India. We just need to wait a bit. Why are we always in a hurry?”

He further remarked, “At just 15, he scored a half-century in 15 balls. He is showing his age (jokingly). What a fantastic player he is! The speed of his bat is incredible. Chennai Super Kings had no answer to Vaibhav’s explosive batting. Rajasthan dominated the match.” Rajasthan’s next IPL 2026 encounter is against Gujarat Titans on April 4.
