Rashid Khan Takes Lead at Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship

Ahmedabad, March 12: Rashid Khan has secured the lead in the first round of the Indorama Ventures Golf Championship 2026 with an impressive score of six-under 66. The tournament, featuring a prize pool of $300,000 (approximately ₹2.7 crore), is being held at the Kalhaar Blues and Greens Golf Club. On Thursday, Rashid achieved seven birdies and one bogey, placing him at the top of the leaderboard. The golfer from Delhi has won a total of 14 titles, including two on the international stage.

American Jared Hack, the winner of the season’s opening event, finished second with a score of five-under 67, which included six birdies and one bogey.

Five golfers, including Arjun Prasad, Brijesh Kumar, Saptak Talwar, Manav Bais, and Kartik Singh, tied for third place with a score of four-under 68.

Rashid Khan made two birdies and one bogey on the back nine. The 35-year-old ended a seven-year title drought by scoring five birdies on the front nine, propelling him to the top of the leaderboard.

Following his stellar performance, Rashid stated, “The course is playing very well, different from last time, and the pin positions were challenging. However, I made some good shots and putts, creating opportunities for myself. I just want to give my best from here.”

In addition to Jared Hack, other international players who performed well in the first round included France’s Clément Sordet and Pierre Pinu, along with Austria’s Christoph Blair, all of whom scored three-under 69, tying for eighth place. Among the local professionals, Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan had the best opening round with a score of 70, placing him in 15th position. Veer Ahlawat and Yuvraj Sandhu finished in 22nd and 41st places, respectively, with scores of 71 and 73.
