Mumbai: Rani Mukerji’s much-awaited film ‘Mardaani 3’ was released on Friday. The movie beautifully highlights women empowerment and brings attention to the daily challenges faced by women in uniform who battle crime, fear, and pressure.
In ‘Mardaani 3’, Rani reprises her role as Shivani Shivaji Roy. During a session with women police officers from Delhi Police, she shared her experiences related to the role.
Rani Mukerji said, “Wearing the police uniform for the third time is a great honour and privilege for me. The life of women police officers is extremely tough. They have their own struggles, stories, and face numerous challenges every day. Despite this, the way they solve crime cases is truly extraordinary.”
She added, “Through the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy, I am trying to show the world how Indian women officers dedicate day and night to their duties and continuously work for the safety of society.”
During the session, when a woman police officer asked if Rani ever felt angry or frustrated that even in 2026, society still needs films to educate about women’s and children’s issues, Rani responded thoughtfully.
“Instead of feeling anger or despair, it is more important to focus on the steps taken to improve the situation. Today, initiatives like Nirbhaya Squad, Damini Squad, and various helpline services have been launched to protect women and children. These efforts are working towards ensuring that every girl and child can get help when needed,” she said.
Rani further commented, “Struggle is a part of everyone’s life and this challenge is not limited to India but is global. The safety of women and children is a major concern for every country.”
She concluded, “We should remain hopeful by seeing these positive steps. Change does not happen overnight, but gradual actions in the right direction help make society safer.”
