Ram Mandir Celebrates Jhoolan Utsav with Divine Revelations

Ayodhya, August 17: The sacred month of Sawan has once again brought to life the centuries-old religious traditions of Ramnagar. The Jhoolan Utsav for Ram Lalla commenced on Monday at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. On this occasion, the festival idol was placed on an exquisite swing made of silver, adorned with gold. Devotees expressed immense enthusiasm to witness the enchanting form of Ram Lalla on this beautifully decorated swing.

During the Jhoolan Utsav, the temple complex was filled with devotion and joy. In front of the deity in the sanctum, devotees presented devotional songs and Kajri in a spirit of camaraderie. Amidst the melodious tunes of bhajans and traditional songs, devotees had the opportunity to see Ram Lalla on the swing.

According to religious tradition, swinging the deity during Sawan holds special significance in the monasteries and temples of Ramnagar. Various temples in Ayodhya conduct special prayers by placing idols of Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and other deities on swings.

At the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the tradition of dressing Ram Lalla in special garments and ornaments while swinging him is being observed daily during Sawan. Local saints mention that the Jhoolan Utsav is notably referenced in the beliefs associated with Ram Lalla’s birth.

It is believed that about four months after Lord Shri Ram’s birth, Mata Kaushalya, along with King Dasharath’s other queens, swung Ram Lalla and his brothers. During this time, traditional Kajri songs were sung. Over time, this tradition has become an essential part of Ayodhya’s religious celebrations.

According to members, the temple complex, including the sanctum, has been specially decorated for the Jhoolan Utsav. The swing has been adorned with flowers, creating an attractive appearance. Devotees have been arriving since morning to witness Ram Lalla on the swing, expressing their faith through bhajans and kirtans.

On the occasion of Nag Panchami, the Sheshavatar Temple in Ayodhya, where Lord Lakshman is worshipped, has also become a special attraction for devotees. In religious beliefs, Lord Lakshman is considered an incarnation of Sheshnag. The Sawan Jhoolan Utsav in Ramnagar is not just a religious event; it is also a vibrant representation of Ayodhya’s ancient cultural and devotional traditions.
