Ranchi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : RANCHI — Rakesh Sinha, the media in-charge of the Congress party, has sharply criticized Nitin Naveen, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), over his remarks regarding ‘Vande Mataram‘. Naveen had claimed that Rahul Gandhi, raised in foreign culture, could never appreciate the significance of the patriotic song.
In response, Sinha questioned Naveen’s authority to lecture on ‘Vande Mataram’, citing his ancestors who allegedly received pensions from the British and collaborated with them during the freedom struggle. “How can someone whose forefathers were involved in arresting freedom fighters teach us about patriotism?” he asked.
Sinha challenged Naveen to recite two stanzas of ‘Vande Mataram’ without any aids, asserting that he would be unable to do so. He criticized the BJP for promoting individuals who make nonsensical statements and use inappropriate language.
The Congress leader expressed that discussions about ‘Vande Mataram’ are futile, especially when the country faces severe economic challenges, soaring inflation, and unprecedented unemployment. He emphasized that no one can teach Congress about patriotism, as the blood of its leaders is intertwined with the nation’s struggle for independence.
Addressing the contentious issue of Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha questioned why the BJP has not granted full statehood to the region, despite it being part of their manifesto. “People will naturally demand what was promised,” he stated.
Regarding the CID’s investigation into the alleged irregularities in the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) exam, Sinha affirmed that the CID is conducting a fair and fearless inquiry. He assured that any evidence gathered would lead to action against those found guilty, insisting that no wrongdoer would escape justice.
On the MMDR bill, Sinha argued that it is not merely a political issue but a matter of Jharkhand’s identity. “This is our land, our people, and we will not allow Delhi to take control,” he declared, adding that Congress and its allies are prepared to mobilize against this perceived injustice and may seek legal redress soon.
