Mumbai, April 9: Actor-director Rajat Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his new film, ‘Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa.’ The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Wednesday. Kapoor revealed that he was particularly drawn to the theme of “emotional violence” present in the script.
Kapoor stated, “I have a keen interest in genre cinema. This time, my focus was on murder mystery, but what captivated me was not just the mystery of the murder, but the emotional violence that precedes it. The film features characters who smile at each other, share drinks, and celebrate together. They are friends and family, yet many unspoken issues simmer beneath the surface, leading to bizarre occurrences when they finally emerge.”
The story revolves around Sohrab Handa, played by Vinay Pathak. Sohrab is a sharp-tongued, brash, and domineering individual. His quick wit and arrogance make him the center of attention everywhere he goes. He is skilled at provoking others and spares no one. The narrative begins during a private celebration among friends and family. Initially, the atmosphere is light with casual conversations, drinks, and games, but it gradually becomes uncomfortable. Late at night, when Sohrab is brutally murdered, the entire atmosphere shatters. Suspicion, repressed anger, and unease envelop every character.
Ranveer Shorey commented on the film, saying, “This is not a film where heroes and villains are clearly defined. Each character is intertwined with regret, jealousy, and anger. This ambiguity makes the story intriguing. Working under Rajat Kapoor’s direction has been a wonderful experience.”
With a gripping murder mystery and a deep emotional narrative, this film is set to entertain audiences with excitement. The cast includes Vinay Pathak, Ranveer Shorey, Valusha D’Souza, Saurabh Shukla, Neel Bhupalam, Koyal Puri, Chandrachoor Rai, Palomi Ghosh, and Rajat Kapoor in key roles. More than 15 talented actors will appear in the film.
The film is produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Mithya Talkies. It will stream in Hindi on G5 starting April 10.
