
Ahmedabad, April 5: In a gripping encounter of IPL 2026, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) edged past the Gujarat Titans (GT) by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. Chasing a daunting target of 211 runs, GT managed to score only 204 runs, losing 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. This victory marks RR’s second consecutive win this season.
GT started their innings strongly, with Kumar Kushagra and Sai Sudharsan forming a solid partnership. They amassed 78 runs for the first wicket in just 7.6 overs. Kushagra contributed 18 runs, while Sudharsan showcased his skills with a remarkable 73 runs off 44 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. However, Jos Buttler couldn’t capitalize on a good start, scoring 26 runs off 14 balls before getting out. Glenn Phillips and Washington Sundar struggled, scoring only 3 and 4 runs, respectively. Rahul Tewatia managed 12 runs off 6 balls, while Shahrukh Khan added 11 runs off 4 balls.
In the final overs, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada put up a valiant effort, adding 43 runs off 30 balls, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Rashid scored 24 runs off 16 balls, while Rabada remained unbeaten with 23 runs off 16 balls. The last two overs saw exceptional bowling from Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande. Ravi Bishnoi was the standout bowler for RR, claiming 4 wickets for 41 runs in his 4 overs. Nandre Burger and Tushar Deshpande each took one wicket.
Earlier, RR won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a strong start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Surya putting together a 70-run partnership for the first wicket in just 6.2 overs. Vaibhav scored 31 runs off 18 balls, hitting 5 fours and a six, while Yashasvi contributed a solid 55 runs off 36 balls.
Dhruv Jurel, batting at number three, was in excellent form, scoring 75 runs off 42 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. He formed a crucial 56-run partnership with Yashasvi. Shimron Hetmyer added 18 runs off 8 balls. However, captain Riyan Parag had a disappointing outing, scoring only 8 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained not out with 7 runs. Thanks to the impressive performances of Jurel and Yashasvi, RR posted a total of 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Kagiso Rabada was the top bowler for GT, taking 2 wickets. This win puts RR on a winning streak, while GT faces their second consecutive defeat this season.
