
Jaipur, April 26: In a thrilling encounter during IPL 2026, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium. Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals scored an impressive 228 runs, losing 6 wickets in their 20 overs. This score marks the highest ever in IPL history at this venue.
The Rajasthan Royals broke the previous record held by Punjab Kings, who had scored 219 runs with 5 wickets down at the same stadium during IPL 2025. Additionally, this score surpasses RR’s own record of 222 runs for 2 wickets set in 2022. It stands as the second-highest total in IPL history.
Despite losing the toss, the Rajasthan Royals had a rocky start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed for just 10 runs. However, Vaibhav Suryaanshi and Dhruv Jurel partnered brilliantly, amassing 112 runs for the second wicket off 62 balls. Jurel scored 51 runs off 35 balls, while Vaibhav dazzled with a century, reaching 103 runs off just 37 balls at a remarkable strike rate of 278. His innings included 5 fours and 12 sixes.
Donovan Ferreira added a quick 33 runs off 16 balls towards the end. However, captain Riyan Parag struggled again, scoring only 7 runs, and Shimron Hetmyer managed just 11 runs off 10 balls. Ravindra Jadeja and Jofra Archer remained not out with 4 and 2 runs, respectively.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ishan Malinga was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets, while Praful Hingne, Pat Cummins, and Nitish Kumar Reddy each claimed one wicket.
