Jaipur, August 14: Ahead of Independence Day, the Rajasthan police have intensified preparations to maintain law and order. In this context, Rajasthan’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Sharma held a high-level meeting with officials to review security arrangements.
DGP Rajiv Sharma stated in an interview that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been vocal about eradicating drugs from the country. In line with this, the state government and police are taking action against narcotics at all levels. He emphasized that public cooperation in the fight against drugs would significantly strengthen police efforts. The meeting specifically addressed monitoring drug trafficking, arms supply, and drone activities in border areas.
He noted that local citizens are being engaged in efforts to curb drug trafficking and arms supply in border regions adjacent to Pakistan. The police in Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner are in constant contact with the public, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities. This exchange of information between police and locals is aiding effective action against trafficking.
The DGP mentioned that there has been a decrease in drone incidents coming from Pakistan in border areas. The Border Security Force (BSF) is maintaining continuous surveillance. Additionally, intelligence agencies, Rajasthan police, and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) teams are closely monitoring suspicious activities.
He stated that due to the coordinated efforts of all agencies and ongoing vigilance, there has been a noticeable decline in trafficking cases via drones. In light of Independence Day, the police are exercising heightened alertness in sensitive areas. Officials have been instructed to strengthen security measures and take immediate action upon receiving reports of any suspicious activities.
