Rain Delays Toss for Final T20 Match Between India and West Indies in Bengaluru

Heavy rain in Bengaluru delays the toss for the fifth T20 match between India and West Indies at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bengaluru, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Heavy rains in Bengaluru have postponed the toss for the fifth and final T20 match between India and West Indies, scheduled to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The ground is currently covered with tarpaulins as rain continues to fall.

According to AccuWeather, the region is expected to experience heavy rainfall during the match time, raising concerns about the game. However, the stadium’s drainage system is quite efficient, which may help in minimizing delays. There is a possibility of reduced overs, and if conditions allow, a five-over match could be organized.

India has played a total of eight T20 matches at Chinnaswamy, winning four and losing three, with one match ending in no result. Their last game at this venue was against Afghanistan in 2024, which India won after two super overs.

The series is currently tied at 2-2. In the fourth T20, India faced a 24-run defeat. West Indies batted first, scoring 247 runs for the loss of three wickets, with Shai Hope delivering an outstanding unbeaten century. Sherfane Rutherford also contributed significantly, scoring 49 runs off just 26 balls.

In response, India managed to score only 223 runs while losing nine wickets. Sanju Samson was the standout performer for India, scoring 56 runs off 23 balls. However, the team’s bowling has been a major concern throughout the series, with bowlers being expensive in the last match.

On the other hand, West Indies captain Shai Hope has been in remarkable form, scoring centuries in two out of the four T20 matches played. He has received solid support from teammates like Rutherford, Shimron Hetmyer, and Romario Shepherd. In the last T20, Keemo Paul showcased his bowling prowess by taking five wickets for the West Indies.
