New Delhi, February 18: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has expressed strong criticism regarding the display of Chinese robot dogs by a university at the ‘India AI Impact Summit.’ He labeled the event as a disorganized public relations spectacle.
Gandhi took to the social media platform ‘X’ to voice his concerns, stating, “Instead of leveraging India’s talent and data, the ‘AI Summit’ has turned into a chaotic PR stunt. Indian data is being sold, and Chinese products are being showcased.”
Earlier, the Congress party posted on ‘X’, “The government has made the country’s image ridiculous on the global stage concerning AI. At the ongoing AI summit, Chinese robots are being presented as our own. Chinese media has mocked us. This is truly embarrassing for India.”
The party further added, “What is even more shameful is that government minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is also part of this deception, promoting Chinese robots at an Indian summit. The government has inflicted irreparable damage to the country’s image. They have turned AI, a field where we could have been global leaders due to our data power, into a joke.”
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also raised questions about the government. In a post on ‘X’, the party stated, “The BJP government has been operating under a copy-paste scheme from the beginning. Now, the government is hosting an AI summit, overseen by minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. During this event, a private university brought in robot dogs from China and presented them as part of its research. This fraud is ridiculing Indian scientists and engineers worldwide.”
