Kolkata, April 26: The political battle between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Congress has intensified ahead of the final phase of voting in West Bengal. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during his visit to the state. In response, TMC has retaliated strongly. Party leader Kunal Ghosh accused Gandhi of betrayal.
Kunal Ghosh, the TMC candidate, held a street meeting in Ward 28 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation in Beleghata. During this event, he labeled Rahul Gandhi as a “failed leader.” Commenting on Gandhi’s recent rally, Ghosh stated, “Rahul Gandhi is an unsuccessful leader. The BJP calls him ‘Pappu,’ and they are right in their assessment.”
He further added, “In the states where he had responsibilities (Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, and Maharashtra), he failed to prevent the BJP from winning. In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is trying to stop the BJP, while he (Rahul Gandhi) is wandering around dividing votes and aiding the BJP.”
Kunal Ghosh emphasized that Rahul Gandhi is committing betrayal. He asserted that the TMC has never engaged in betrayal in national politics.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He alleged that the BJP and TMC are colluding, leaving no stone unturned in ruining the state. He stated that the public is distressed and desires change, with the goal of establishing a pro-people government in West Bengal.
The Congress MP remarked, “In Bengal, you only get jobs if you are associated with the TMC. Ordinary people are left empty-handed. The truth is that Mamata Banerjee is not less corrupt.”
